Abstract

Detailed feasibility study, focused predominantly on availability of Crude Palm Oil (CPO), Palm Kernel Oil (PKO) and Refined Palm Oil Sludge along with their use for biodiesel production, in Nigeria, is discussed. Production cost analysis and its comparison with Rapeseed and Soybean oil feedstocks has also been reported. Results obtained from the sensitivity analysis conduced have clearly demonstrated that the pay-back time of a biodiesel plant being highly dependent on the feedstock price, it is quite feasible to operate such a plant as a profitable business using Pam oil as starting raw material.
